Being A MOM

What I thought it would be like being a mom and what it's really like...
Sleep was not such a precious commodity.
I didn't HAVE to buy concealer.
I was consumed with my work.
I went places on the spur of the moment.
Packing for a vactions wasn't as much work.
I didn't really think about the fact that pregnancy is 9 months long....looooooong.
My studio apartment was bare and not safety-proofed.
My arms were flabby because I didn't lug around a 30 pound carseat, diaper bag, and baby.
There wasn't so much laundry.
My trash didn't smell quite as bad.
I was not immune to spit up, poop, or pee.
There must have been more hours in the day.
I didn't take half as many photos, and when I did, they always turned out horrible.
I didn't have a companion, a buddy, or an accomplice.
I didn't know that I'd miss you so much when I was away from you.
I didn't have anyone to shower with kisses during the day.
I didn't realize just how much I would enjoy being your mom.

B E F OR E Y O U

Before you, I didn't know what to expect. Before you, there wasn't a little boy who looked up to me with sparkling blue eyes and a happy grin. Before you, I had lots of sleep, but my heart wasn't nearly as full.

Thank you for all the lessons you've helped me learn to prepare for your little sister.
