June 7th was my husband's 28th birthday; two years away from hittin' 30! It always seems as if a decade is the big MILE marker in LIFE. However, as I began to ponder this more, I began too look forward to turning 40! I know that may seem "old" to some and other's "young" but the great thing about 40 is the fact that I believe that is the ripe age where a person knows where they are going and they know who they are. Although, I have not had this experience, it's the people from 40+ that REALLY inspire me!
No one likes to be FORGOTTEN on their birthday, no matter how OLD you are. As I realize this more and more, I begin to understand how HORRIBLE I am for not sending a SIMPLE birthday card to the people I LOVE! So a RESOLUTION, I'm starting now is to make more of an effort to say, HAPPY BIRTHDAY (AND this doesn't include on FACEBOOK).
Although we don't have a lot of money, with Roger in the academy things have been extremely tight, I decided to make a team effort (between the kids and I) to make the BEST Birthday Card EVER!
Nikholias was concentrating hard, so when I him to look up to take a picture. I turned on some music and we were jammin' and makin' a birthday card for dad. I did have to remind Kambri that dancing on the table wasn't allowed!! lol
On Roger's way home from the academy he asked if I had baked him a cake. I said, "No, why would I bake you a cake!" He seemed kinda disappointed, but tried to convince me, "Because you love me." I laughed at him and asked him, "If I were to bake you a cake, what kind would you want?" He was quick to imply his useful manipulation tactics and saying, "You don't have to bake me one." Of course, typically, making me feel guilty. So I repeated my question and he finally responded "a Carrot Cake." I laughed some more and told him, "It's in the oven." I could hear him light-up over the phone! It's really nice knowing what my husband likes and what he expects because it helps me stay one step ahead of him.
The kids were excited when he returned home they were all running around the house like crazy monkeys. You can actually see Nikholias' lightening speeds in the picture below.

On each of the hand prints, and the little foot print I grabbed while Lttl1 was sleeping, there are things we love about Roger. Nikholi said, "I love my dad because he helps me beat Super Mario Brothers." Kambri said, "I love my dad because he pushes me on the swing." I put on Lttl1's, "I love my dad because he ROX." And I thanked him for supporting our family so that I could stay home with the kids and go to school! It was really great to see his face light up and the simple homemade card, which made it all worth it.
After eating some delicious spaghetti with kabasa, EXTRA cheese, and a side salad with broccoli, we sang Happy Birthday and watched Roger blow out his -2 8- candles!
